Why I admire George Andrew Romero
Zombies=love
Able to present stark social commentary in a horror nutshell and make it look like childsplay
To plead with him to not do another movie. His career is brilliant up until Monkey Shines (well, I can look past the two films where S. King acts, both, oddly enough, playing a yokel).
The Crazies & Martin—brilliant, disturbing, humane.
Bruiser & Land of the Dead—budget or no, both poor ideas worthlessly executed.
Never should’ve left Pittsburgh.
He basically INVENTED the modern day Zombie Genre. I LOVE this man.
I wish he was my grandpa, or dad, or uncle, or husband.
George A. Romero is amazing. And I better meet him before I die, or he does…The latter might be more likely..
Nah who am I kidding, he’ll come back. . .
I met Mr Romero at the premiere of Land of the Dead last year in Edinburgh and he was an absolutely charming man.
Keep up the great work, George!!
How could you not admire a man who has always respected his roots. In addition without the of the dead series I wouldn’t be the person I am today. The presentation of real people and real issues in the context of a horror film inspires me always.
