Why Jonathan Safran Foer should want to meet me
Isn’t it obvious? I’m cool!
Author of two books: Everything Is Illuminated, and Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.
He’s my favorite writer, his prose is beautiful, inspiring, moving, quirky and heartbreaking all at once.
Maybe he can explain the true meaning of the number sequence in Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close to me… Love? Love!
I wish we could seat together in some quiet place and have a talk)maybe he also loves wild nature and the silence of early morning…
a) because he is a skilled author. i admire him very much for this
b) because some part of his writing seems to understand…
c) because he’s hot! :)
I met Jonathan Safran Foer at a bar in Boston after he did a reading & signing in Coolidge Corner. He’s physically tiny; you wouldn’t get the sense that he’s so small from the available photos of him. When I met him, he was wearing a very nice green sweater and he barely touched the pint of beer that was in front of him. (The beer he was drinking was an amber I think.) The thing I loved about his personality was how careful and methodical he was in his speaking. I truly got the sense that he puts effort into absorbing everything going on around him, that he thinks about everything – and not only that, he’s aware that his observant manner makes him come off as a little odd/goofy, but he doesn’t give a hoot. He was warm, friendly, approachable, relaxed, and meeting him was one of the most delightful experiences of my life.
I’ve been studying him for the past six months, because I’m writing a very massive term paper on him. He is my literary hero and I truly believe his is better than Salinger and Eggers combined.
Plus, I want to be his protoge.
I met Jonathan at a talk he gave in the area while I was going to U-Mass. His first book was a focus of study for one of my classes, so the professor took the students that were doing papers on his book to it.
Read his books and take the time to see him speak. Neither will disappoint.
I have met Jonathan Safran Foer twice at book signings. Both times he has been extremely nice, very considerate of his fans and friendly to me. Plus, I love his books, even though he looks like he’s about 18 years old.
