Why I admire Abe Natsumi 安倍なつみ
Abe Natsumi’s latest album is entitled “Loneliness” and by just looking at her, one could not even imagine her feeling that way, remotely.
One of the songs, on this particular album is called “Furusato” the same song she sang when she was with Morning Musume. She once sung with a powerful trio, Nochiura Natsumi, as well, with Superstars Aya Matsuura and Maki Goto which must have been a real treat to hear. This certainly never hurt her career either! Though unlike those from Mini Moni – she chose to take the solo route, though unfortunately, she had run into some rather large stones, on her path to stardom in Japan.
First there is the incident where she had been involved in a plagiarism scandal with some of her essays and poems in her photobooks which were copied off works by other artists, and she took personal leave for three months.
Then came the “Turtle” incident, where, while filming for a special program about her, either she or one of her film crew picked up a government protected, species of turtle. The film shows the turtle walking along the road, and then next miles away at a beach. This particular type of Turtle can not swim in the ocean, and had it somehow made its way to the water would have died. The animal was so protected that to touch it, produced a heavy, heavy fine. An event, she later apologised for in public.
But despite these problems, You would not call her a “bad girl”, nor does she have a “bad girl image”. Her fans may have been disapointed by her behavior, but despite these matters, we are sure she has been forgiven, after all she’s no “brat”! She’s a wonderful talent, who still has a shot at making it up to the same level as her “sisters” Maki Goto and Aya Matsuura.
I think I admire her because of her determination to get though the occassional odd events that side track her career not to mention her incredible talent. She seems to have a side to her that never wants to give up. Thats a trait most people admire, and then her age(25), she still has a chance to move beyond it all and come out on top in the end. I hope she does, but in the mean time, I have become a fan.
