Why I want to meet Wes Anderson
I just love him.
Director of 5 films, the best of which is The Royal Tenenbaums and more recently, The life aquatic with Steve Zissou.
However, Meegan begs to differ, Rushmore is definitely the best, followed by Bottle Rocket!
Is Meegan trying to pick a fight? You wanna fight?
Sammi (ersatz) agrees with Meegan that Rushmore is by far the best film of all time, but thinks that Bottle Rocket comes last in the four.
His newest flick “The Darjeeling Limited” opens in the US on September 28th.
Wes Anderson’s films connect with me in ways that no other filmmaker has been able to accomplish.
For that, I’d like to say thanks in person.
He Is Brilliant his movies are brilliant if i were to meet this man i dont even know what i would say, comment on The Royal Tenembaums being the greatest movie ever, or just look at him and watch his actions and try to capture who he really is.
I’m a talented marketer married to a talented screenwriter/animator. And we’re both hilarious. And we love Wes’s movies.
I live in Hollywood and my friends had gotten passes to a test screening of The Life Aquatic. I tend to work late, though, so I didn’t think I’d be able to go. I was lucky and I ran up to the theater just as they were being ushered inside. It was a madhouse! And they were screening everyone very carefully—you couldn’t bring in a camera phone which meant I had to go back outside to the parking lot, and then somehow get back in. And then find them all again. It just didn’t seem likely. But I was lucky; I did find them and they had great seats—second row. The first row was taped off so there was no one even in front of us. Until the lights went down. That’s when Wes Anderson and a female friend sneaked in and took the seats right in front of us—in front of me! After the movie, my friend who has a tattoo of Richie Tennenbaum and the carrier pigeon on her legs stopped him in the lobby to talk to him, and he couldn’t have been nicer. Sigh.
The Royal Tenenbaums is my favorite movie….Margot Tenenbaum is my favorite fictional character of all time and the soundtrack introduced me to Elliott Smith, Nick Drake, and Nico, whom are all now huge favorites of mine.
His films are amazing, and a large portion of what has inspired me to go into film rather than writing, which was my orginal intent. Watching his films (and a few others) have helped me realize that film is like literature, but literature on steroids. Literature condensed. He has shown me I can tell a story without a words and obtruse actions, but with subtle hints and superb acting and directing. Wes Anderson, I commend you.
For some reason I just “get” his films. They work on so many levels and just as much is unsaid than said in them. I would like to just sit down and hang out with him and chat. Perhaps people watch at a busy airport or something over a good cup of coffee or a grey goose martini.
