A story about Bill Clinton
It was absolutely stunning to meet him.
William Jefferson Clinton: 42nd president of the United States; centrist Democrat; Rhodes scholar.
I have never been speechless in my life. When I realized that there was only a chair between me and the firt President that I ever voted for, the words left me and I began to cry. don’t ask why. The he hugged me and gave me a tissue. All I could utter was thank you. and I was pushed on to meet Hillary by the secret service. I know I’m silly. But I did it!
The Former President Bill Clinton made a surprise stop in Laurinburg, NC today (09 April 2008) to speak at St. Andrews Presbyterian College. Emily and I were fortunate and savvy enough to be right in front, and this is how I acquired a t-shirt that was thrown into the audience, and how I met the sexiest, smartest, most powerful man in the world. He came around and I told him that I had hugged him when I was six years old, and that I’ve been patiently waiting for seventeen years for another hug. He obliged me, and thankfully, some awful girl behind us had the balls to ask him why he signed the NAFTA treaty- so the answer her, he was leaning over me and touching on me for nearly four minutes! It was so fabulous, I have photos and it was just amazing. He saw that I had the t0shirt, and asked if I’d like him to sign it. I said yes, and tried to give it to the guy holding all the stuff Clinton was supposed to sign, but a guard said, “We can’t take that.” The President just took it from me then and gave it to the man himself. He made sure to sign it and write on it, and I will always love that t-shirt! AND Bill Clinton!
During my senior year of high school President Clinton visited. Overall a nice guy and I thought a bit more highly of him after that day.
When President Clinton came to Canada to unveil the new US Embassy in Ottawa, I was on my way to work on Murray Street. Of course, since traffic was closed on the bridge, I had to walk across… He was on a podium, giving a speech to some people assembled in front, and when I reached the back of the seated crowd, I waved. For a moment, Mr. Clinton stopped speaking, and waved back to me. Of course at that moment, Secret Service agents were speaking in their sleeves, and I only realised later that I must have been in the crosshairs of several sharpshooters at that point…
I was simply happy that for a moment, I could interrupt the most powerful man in the world, with a wave of my hand… LOL
I shook his hand at a book signing for his new book, “Giving.” He is so charming! I told him that he looked great and he laughed.. I was so mortified by my comment, but quickly recovered.
There are so many reasons why I want to meet Bill Clinton. I’d have to say that hitting the town would be right up there on the list. I bet we’d have a hell of a night!
I “met” him at a book signing for his new book, Giving. I shook his hand and told him I hope his wife wins the presidency. I felt like such a nerdy fangirl. He is beautiful.
