A story about Albert Arnold Gore, Jr.
Move over Tipper!
45th Vice President of the United States from 1993 to 2001
I’m so excited, he’s coming to my campus on January 24th for the Frank Church Conference. It’s about global warming, I think. I’d vote for ‘im.
He was in Tokyo. I believe it was in 1996. I remember he visited an American Chamber of Commerce event and I happened to be a member of the ACCJ Board at that time. I got a great photo of us shaking hands… “The old grip and grin.” I later saw him once more at his second inaugural in Washington, DC. I was there as a representative of Democrats Abroad. I was very disappointed when Gore lost his bid for the Presidency to Bush by a hanging chad.
It was my 16th birthday, he was vacationing on Orcas Island. We were both in Olga’s. He (and the rest of the restaurant) sang me Happy Birthday. It was magic.
There was a fundraiser at the Gordon Biersch here in DC. It was my first political fundraiser that I’d ever been to, and within the last week of Gore having a beard.
