I met Lawrence Lessig at Al-Jazeera’s 3rd Annual Media Forum which I was blogging at the time. I was fortunate enough to have supper with him and Ethan Zuckerman from Global Voices. He has some very good ideas and incredible foresight in terms of culture and technology.
I saw his keynote at the Wizards of OS conference in Berlin. He’s an amazing freak with amazing ideas. And I’m saying that although I hate the word “amazing”.
I can’t but admire this man! He is the person I really want to talk to! I think I saw him once in Grace Hotel in Sydney
Met him at the Free Culture Conference at Swarthmore. His reality distortion field rivals Steve Jobs’: it must be seen to be believed.
We would love to get a chance to meet Lawrence Lessing. His work on intellectual property rights of the future was very intriguing.
I had visited the Wizards of Os3 conference in Berlin, in 2005. I heard Lawrence speak at the conference and later met him briefly. I am deeply passionate about Creative Commons.
Read some of his books when I studied Law & IT at Leiden university. I consider this man one of the great legal minds of our age, if not a visionary. Politicians and decision-makers would be wise to listen to this guy every now and then, in Europe and in the US.
We had a brief chat after his talk on extension/shortening of copyright terms in the UK, at the RSA in London in September 2005. His proposal was great (opt-in extension to the new term proposed by the government, 90 years, upon explicit request and payment of a tiny fee – 1GBP – when the original 50 years protection expires), and his talk brilliant and enlightening as always.
