For my High school senior trip, 10 years ago, I went with a choir group to New York City to sing in Carnegie Hall. While there we decided to take in some Broad Way shows. After seeing the Phantom of the Opera, we came out of the theater just in time to catch Whoopie Goldberg coming out of her show a cross the street. Several of us quickly ran over and made our way through the crowd and up to the red carpeted area. There she was shaking hands and signing autographs to people in the crowd. The only paper we had were the Phantom of the Opera Play Bills. We motioned her over and we got to say hi and shake hands. One of my fiends handed her the play bill and a pen. She looked at it and then looked at all of us and said, “I’m not signing that!” and quickly threw the paper and pen back to us and hastily walked to her limo and jumped in. We were a little confused by what had just happened. We were A bunch of teenagers just wanting a signature. We didn’t care what it was on. But looking back now, I can see why she was annoyed with us and didn’t sign it. It wasn’t her playbill and we didn’t even see her show. O’well, we tried. To say the least, for a few years I didn’t like her because of the incident, but I’m over it now.
