Literary and political author from Uruguay. Most know for writing a novelized history of Latin America (a trilogy): “Memory of Fire”.
The egmatic uruguayan poet and author is an always present figure in Uruguay. He’s a commentator who takes a step back. Looking at where things are happening and lending a voice to social movements when they need authority.
His books from politics, poetry, super short snippits…. stories which are only a paragraph long, are incredible.
When he speaks in english he has the exact same accent as my wife, also a motevidano. It’s funny.
I almost saw him give a talk in Rio. But I knew he’d be speaking in Portuguese, and the hall looked like it would be completely full, so I decided to give up my place in line so someone who would understand more could get in.
