I met him as an undergrad when there was a John Cage festival at my school. I played in two works of his: 1776 and Postcard from Heaven. I played the latter as a grad student as well.

at a conference of Art and Chess in London. I was so in awe of him that I had nothing to say, which seems appropriate in retrospect.
Why I admire John Cage
Because he could get an auditorium full of high class people to listen to 4 minutes and 33 seconds of total silence. If that’s not brilliant, I don’t know what is.
